Self-Improvement is Crushing Your Business

The fastest way to grow isn’t getting a little less bad at the thing you’re terrible at. It’s assigning somebody, or something, to handle the stuff you hate.

We’ve all been sold the idea that we’ve got to round ourselves out, patch the weak spots, become the complete package. So we spend years grinding to get slightly less awful at our weaknesses, while the thing we’re actually great at sits in the corner, starving for our time.

I try not to fix my weaknesses. I supplement them. For example, I’m not a details guy, so Anne runs the details and the wheels stay on. (Thank God for Anne Hill!)

Focus isn’t my strength either, so I lean on coaches and mentors to stay locked in for clarity and revenue. These are the gaps that used to cost me money, and now I get to spend my time on the stuff only I can do.

So here are the two questions for this week. Where are you weak, and who or what covers it...a person, a contractor, an AI assistant, a dead-simple system? And where are you strong enough that, even with unlimited help, you’d still do it yourself because you’re the best in the world at it?

Find the first one and hand it off. Find the second one and do more of it.
Getting a little less bad at what you hate is just expensive homework.
