Clarity Builds Freedom: Cut Your Target in Half
If everyone is your target audience, no one is.
That simple fact separates small business owners who stay stuck from those who finally find freedom. The truth is, very few products in the world appeal to everyone. But when you try to make everyone your customer, no one really notices, and no one really cares.
The most dangerous phrase I hear from entrepreneurs is, “I don’t want to leave anyone out.” What they really mean is, “I’m afraid.” Afraid to be judged by the people they truly want to serve. Afraid they won’t make enough money if they only target one small group. Afraid that if they pick a single audience and it doesn’t work, they’ll have no one left.
But that fear is costing them everything.
When you cut your target in half, everything gets easier.
Your website becomes clearer because it speaks to one kind of person.
Your content becomes more specific because you understand the language, humor, and pain points of your ideal audience.
Your offers become sharper because you can design exactly what they need instead of guessing what might please everyone.
When you specialize, you get faster, better, and more efficient. You create a system of expertise that compounds over time. You also can begin to charge a premium price because your battle-tested product is proven to work exactly for your target industry. Think of it like a dentist’s web designer. Once you build three great dentist websites, the next ten become easier, more profitable, and more fun.
And that’s how this connects to the Fridays Off Theory. When you do work that fits you and your audience perfectly, you remove friction. You deliver faster, sell easier, and make more. Each of those gains gives you another step toward Fridays Off.
Here’s your move for the week.
Look at your target audience and ask:
Who do I love working with most?
Who gets the best results from what I do?
If I only served that group how might my product improve?
Finally, validate this group is willing and able to pay my ideal rate?
If all of those questions check out - cut your target audience in half. Get sharper. Get clearer. Get free.
Clarity builds freedom.

Stupid internet with all of its stupid fun stuff…

Behind the Scenes…I’m currently trying to train Ivy the Golden Retriever to high five me when the Bears have a first down. The only problem is that it’s DA BEARS and (so far this season - Sunday was an exception) we aren’t getting enough first downs for the training to stick.
